The Town Hall Theatre is Galway's Municipal theatre
and entertainment facility. It features a 400 seat main auditorium and
presents a full program of plays, concerts, firms and events each week
throughout the year.

The Siamsa Show at the Claddagh hall, offers a celebration of all that is best
in Irish music, song and dance, both ancient and modern, during July and
August.

Dunguaire Castle in Kinvara hosts Medieval Banquets nightly
during the summer months. The entertainment celebrates the richness of
Ireland's literary and musical past and evokes the colourful characters
that are so much a part of the castle's history.

More informal Irish
music sessions can be found in the many pubs and hotels in Galway and
Salthill. For the more energetic, discos also take place thoughout the city
and Salthill. For the less energetic, there is an eleven screen Omniplex
cinema situated near the city centre.
Festivals and events

A number of Music
Festivals are held in Galway City throughout the year.
- Galway Arts Festival in mid
July features a wide variety of national and International acts.
Theatre, music, dance, film, exhibitions, comedy, literary and
children's events all feature in this festival.
- Salthill festival in early
July features an open-air concert each evening. There is also open-air
theatre and literary events. This year featured a spectacular air show
with aircraft from the US, Germany and Irish Air Corps.
- The Galway International
Oyster Festival is held at the end of September to celebrate Galway's
rich annual Oyster harvest. It is the biggest Oyster festival in
Ireland. The Irish and World Oyster Opening Championships are held
during the festival, as well as superb banquets and top class
entertainment, and of course rich, creamy Guinness.
- The Galway Races, a 7 day
festival of horse racing takes place at the end of July each year, in
the famous Ballybrit race course. It is probably the largest and most
popular in the country, with top class racing and with top class fields,
and is a most enjoyable event. Two smaller meetings are held in
September and October.
- Greyhound racing is a great
night out. The Greyhound Track is situated in College Road, within walking
distance of the city centre. Race meetings are held every Tuesday and
Friday night, and every night during the Annual Galway Race Festival
week.
